History & Materials
The story
Hearst’s Magazine paid Parrish twice the rate he earned for covers at Collier’s. He nevertheless stopped painting its fairy-tale covers, dissatisfied with how his paintings were handled and reproduced. Reveries, intended for the May 1913 cover, never appeared there.
