History & Materials
The story
Pirner’s earlier cycle The Demon Love took its guiding idea from Plato: love as a spirit between gods and mortals. Introducing the cycle, the critic Karel Mádl described a power that could surround one person with happiness and drive another toward shame, crime, or death.
